I had the pleasure of hosting an Under the Sea Mermaid Party for my niece’s 8th birthday! I’m lucky to have a sister who doesn’t mind letting me take the reins when it comes to hosting her family celebrations. The kids had a blast and thought everything was so magical! I had so much fun working with some of the most talented vendors on this event. After three months of planning, all the way from Houston, I’m thrilled to share the reveal of this amazing Under the Sea Mermaid party! Shop my details and party decor at the bottom of this page.

PARTY SUPPLIES BY CRAFT MY OCCASION
When I first started planning this event I knew I wanted to use party supplies that were the perfect representation of my niece. I found Lynnette Abbott, Owner of Craft My Occasion, who started her own brown mermaid party collection. Lynnette’s supplies showcase diversity and make kids feel empowered! I knew that I wanted to use her supplies for the party and decided to design my color scheme and décor around her products.

A PERSONALIZED TOUCH
I’m a sucker for personalization and this event was no exception. I worked with Alexis Burt to customize several items with calligraphy! One of my favorite items was the freehand design she did on the mailbox for the guests to drop in their cards. She also customized each place setting along with the markers for my feature table. I worked with Alexis to find the right paper color to match my décor, and she nailed it. How cute are these little touches?

SWEET LITTLE SEATS FOR THE MERMAIDS
I was on the hunt for Chiavari chairs to use for the event and was delighted to find Sweet Seats Atlanta. We rented chairs for the event and I found the perfect seat covers from CV Linens. They were absolutely perfect and brought so much character to the room!

THE MENU
It was so much fun choosing a menu for this event! We decided to do classic kid’s favorites like pinwheels, hotdogs, and macaroni and cheese – to name a few. I added a fun spin to them to keep with the theme.
OCTOPUS HOTDOGS

SHELLS AND CHEESE

SEAWEED DIP

SUSHI SANDWICHES

SWEET TREATS
I wanted to incorporate themed foods and snacks for the kids! It was hard narrowing the list but I decided to go with desserts that I knew would be a hit. I worked with the talented Jamie Reese-Gooden to make the most amazing lineup of desserts for my little mermaids. My cake was made by Jessicakes Bakery, and the gorgeous little cake topper was custom designed by Ana De Roux. Can you guess what the crowd favorite was?

MERMAID ACTIVITIES
We setup tables outside for a little arts and crafts. The guests got to make their own sand art and color their own mermaid tail drawstring bags! They got so creative making their art.

IT’S ALL IN THE DETAILS
The details are always the most exciting part of planning a party for me! It’s where the execution comes to life, from my head to the table, and it’s the most rewarding to see. I spent hours over the past few months shopping for the perfect pieces to bring the party to life. About 90% of my décor came from Oriental Trading Company! If you’re ever in search of party supplies and décor you should check them out. They have the widest selection of party goods, in my opinion! I found my table linens from CV Linens and my table runners are from Green Earth Studio.

This party was a huge success and the birthday girl couldn’t have been more happy! A special thanks to all my talented vendors, and my photographer – Morgan Smith. I hope you enjoyed my reveal and that you find a little inspiration to host your own mermaid party! Let me know what you think I’d love to hear from you.

Hi, great work. Was wondering where you got the cake topper?
Hi Ashlyn,
Thanks for stopping by and checking it out! I actually had the cake topper custom made by Ana de Roux for my niece’s birthday, a few years ago. I’m not sure if she still does them but here’s her Facebook page link.
