Boho Chic Friendsgiving Party

I recently had the pleasure of planning and styling a Boho Chic Friendsgiving Party for one of my best friends, Safa Ahmad. After a few months of wedding planning, Safa moved into her new home with her husband. I knew that I wanted to host a special party for her, once she was settled in. We brainstormed ideas and thought that it would be perfect weather to host a boho chic Friendsgiving party to celebrate and shower our newlywed with love, as she began her new life. Safa invited 7 of her closest friends to take part in this fun evening and it was absolutely magical!

MOCKTAIL BAR

I setup a fun “Mocktail” Bar, sponsored by Welch’s. Our cater waiter served each guest a Welch’s mocktail flavor of their choice. The rims were dipped in whipped cream and topped with sprinkles to jazz them up.

PARTY FAVORS

We presented each guest with gorgeous personalized gift boxes sponsored by ModParty! These beautiful boxes made for the perfect keepsakes for everyone as a memento from the night.

FLORALS

I partnered with Holly’s Bouquet for the amazing floral arrangements, and they were the perfect touch to complete the overall look and aesthetic.

SWEET TREATS

Safa is so talented at baking, and she made some amazing desserts for the party! The lineup included these mini edible succulents. She stuffed crumbled Oreo “dirt” inside mini terracotta pots and topped with succulent flowers made of chocolate.

Next up was the chocolate covered Oreos topped with a white chocolate marbled finish.

The feature dessert was the gorgeous naked cake that Safa made. The cake was topped with fresh fruit and flowers. I styled the dessert cart with a balloon garland kit from Glamfetti. You wouldn’t believe how easy it was to assemble this garland.

DÉCOR

To set the mood and to keep with the theme I layered in tons of textures and colors. Mixing and matching patterns is always a good idea, so I chose a few different tapestries that complemented each other. I used unfinished wood pallets, for the dinner settings, to create a more earthy look. For the runners I used a custom colored cheesecloth for texture and pop of color and started with that as my base.

Safa received beautiful China from her parents as a wedding gift. When she told me about how they had been collecting it since she got engaged, I knew I wanted to incorporate it into the décor. It had such a special story and with this being her very first party to host at her own place- bringing out the China was a must!

We wanted to do an easy and stress-free dinner so Safa decided to order barbecue from her favorite spot in Houston, Pinkertons. We ordered brisket, mac n cheese, potato salad and beef ribs. Everyone loaded up their China plates and had dinner under the stars by candlelight. I added queen size blowup mattresses with pillows and throws for a comfy lounge area. We setup a projector screen and played Princess Diaries as the sun went down. The girls curled up to watch the movie while enjoying their delicious desserts, served to them by the cater waiter.

We had an amazing night and despite the rain all week it was perfect weather the entire day. All of us girls were happy to have a night out for a little fun! It was absolutely magical and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect event. Thank you for reading, I hope you’re inspired to host your own backyard movie night!

    Hi Chari:

What a great party idea. I loved reading about all the special details you created for your friend. I, too, love the balloon garland ( I didn’t even know there was such a thing until reading your post) and I love, also, how you so thoughtfully incorporated the china your bride has been collecting since her engagement.

I never even thought of an outdoor movie night on the grass outside my home, but I may have to borrow this one!

Thanks, Leslie! Isn’t it just so darling? We all had a blast and with the weather in Texas it was a perfect day for an outdoor party. The china was one of the highlights for me. I never would have thought to incorporate china into an outdoor party but it brought such a chic and unique element into this event.
